This sermon beginning the study of the Corinthian church, brings us to the beginning of Paul’s letter to the Corinthian church. Paul begins by telling the Corinthians that Jesus would be coming soon, and that they had strayed from His path. We learn that while the Corinthians may not have been doing the right things, they were positioned exactly where God had called them to be as a church.
The Corinthian church was steeped in the sin of the world, but they were still positioned in the path of Jesus Christ. Although they were sinning, God was still saving people and blessing the church by keeping its doors opened and its members steadily growing. Paul made it his goal to address some of these sins within the first chapter of Corinthians. As Christians, it is important that we keep God’s word close to us so that we don’t wind up as the Corinthians did. It is our responsibility to stay on the path of Jesus Christ, and follow God’s commandments.
