Spiritual Blindness

In Matthew chapter 13, Jesus begins to speak to the multitudes in parables. Afterwards, the disciples ask Jesus why He has talked to the multitudes in parables, not knowing that just as the multitudes are, the disciples are spiritually blind to the power of Jesus Christ.

The multitudes were a sluggish people, who had hardened their hearts to the word of God. The disciples, however, had traveled with Jesus and watched Him perform miracles that were astounding through the power of God. The difference between the multitude and the disciples was that the disciples had chosen not to believe in Jesus’ power.  Too often we forget what God has brought us through in our lives, and when faced with another mountain, we are quick to lose our faith, or to place it in the hands of man instead of giving it to God. We must remember that the same God that created the heavens and the earth, hears our prayers, and will carry us through our trials as long as we place our faith in Him.
