This sermon in the series, “Practical Teachings For Pure Living,” focuses on Jesus’ teachings about righteousness. Jesus taught us that righteousness comes from the heart, and so does sin. Jesus teaches that standards and sin all come down to where your heart is.

Too often as Christians, we feel that we are wronged by someone we love and instead of talking to that person, we hide the anger inside our hearts. As we go about our daily lives, that anger begins to fester and grow, to the point that it begins to spill out into our words, and into our daily actions. What began as a small amount of anger, becomes an imprisonment to an emotion that impairs our view of the outside world and those surrounding us.  More importantly, it becomes a barricade between us and God as we try to pretend that it isn’t there or that we are justified in our anger. As children of God, we must confess our anger to ourselves, confess it to Him, and then confess it to our brother, so that we can be free from the oppression of this enslaving sin.
