When Jesus asked His disciples who they thought He truly was, the replies varied. Some men thought He was Elijah, others thought He was John the Baptist, still others thought He was Jeremiah.
The reason why so many thought Jesus was John the Baptist was because His message was similar. Jesus preached repentance, a very unpopular message. Like John the Baptist, Jesus separated himself from man. Others thought Jesus was Elijah because like Elijah’s miracles, Jesus’ miracles pointed people to God. Others thought Jesus was Jeremiah because like Jeremiah, Jesus wept at the sin that was rampant in the world. Jesus knew that the world would fight His message, but yet, He bled and died for us at Calvary just the same. As Christians, we should strive daily to be Christ-like.
