This sermon in the series, “Choices,” focuses on Boaz’s choice of the future. Knowing that Ruth was a widower meant that Boaz would likely be preserving the name of her deceased husband and giving up the future of his inheritance. Boaz knew he would have to marry Ruth if he bought Elimilech’s land. Above all else, Boaz ultimately knew he wanted to be the kinsmen redeemer to Ruth.

Much like Boaz sacrificed his inheritance for Ruth, Jesus sacrificed Himself for the church. Jesus Christ is our kinsmen redeemer, having come to us in the form of a man, He was one of us, yet, He laid down His life for us, so that we might take part in His inheritance. Just as Boaz had a motivation of love for Ruth, Jesus has a motivation of love for us. If we yield ourselves to Christ, just as Ruth yielded to Boaz, we too can be redeemed.
