This sermon is the first in the series, “The Announcement.” In this sermon, Pastor Joshua Sharp preaches on the announcement of John the Baptist. When Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth cannot conceive, an angel visits Zacharias and tells him that Elizabeth will be pregnant. Zacharias is made silent until 8 days after the birth of his son, John.

Elizabeth and Zacharias were given a blessing from God. From the beginning, John the Baptist had a story that was unlike any other. He continued his path by separating himself from man, and focusing his life on God. He was filled with the Holy Spirit, and when the time came, he obeyed God and came out of the wilderness to begin preaching God’s word. It is important that as Christians, we separate ourselves from man, surround ourselves with God, and fill ourselves with the Holy Spirit by listening to His word, and obeying His callings on our lives. Only then can we be blessed as He has intended.
