During times of warfare, the enemy would often use a stronghold to wage war against another. Strongholds were made of stone so the enemy could hide within and invade the land of which they desired.

Strongholds may exist in our minds and create an incorrect view of God or ourselves. They may also exist in the form of sin that we are trying to cover up and hide inside. Strongholds are a part of our spiritual warfare on this earth. In order to be free, one must turn those over to God so that He can pull down the enemy’s stronghold and set up His very own in our hearts.
