Missionary Dallas Brown talks about the importance of pursuing the right kind of treasure. In Matthew, the kingdom of heaven is compared to a treasure hidden in a field, found by a passerby, and hidden until the lucky man can buy the field. In order to afford the field containing the treasure, the man must sell all he has.
Too often in life, we lose sight of the right treasure, and instead of seeking heavenly treasure, we pursue earthly goods. We place importance on objects and possessions, instead of on the pursuit of heaven. We are too likely to give up everything for earthly goods and possessions, but less intent on sacrificing for the pursuit of heaven. We must remember, as Christians, if we are pursuing anything less than the kingdom of God, we are wasting our time. The kingdom of heaven is our ultimate treasure and it should be the only thing we pursue with all our being, as it is the only thing worthy of our dedication.
