This Sunday morning sermon brings us to Jeremiah and a king. Jeremiah has been told by God to write down 23 years worth of God’s word that he has prophesied and preached to all who would listen. Then, God instructed Jeremiah to bring this to the king. As the king read the word of God, he would tear and burn it within the fireplace.
The king had hardened his heart, and because of that, he was angered by God’s word. Even though the king was angry and disagreed with what Jeremiah had written by burning it, God blessed Jeremiah to remember each of the words, and gave him extra prophecy to add to it as he wrote the works again. Jeremiah didn’t question why God had asked him to do what he did, he just worked according to God’s plan. As Christians, we should strive to be more like Jeremiah and less like the king. We should follow God’s word, and lessen our opinions. In order to avoid judgement and have everlasting life, we must listen to and obey God’s word.
