Using Proper Judgement

This sermon in the series, “Corinthians,” takes us through Paul’s first topic of discussion with the Corinthian church, the topic of division. The greatest cause of the division among the Corinthians, was judgement. The judgement among them was so extreme, that the church was completely divided.

Paul begins his words to the church by expressing his stance within his walk with Christ. Paul refers to himself as minister, a slave who worked from the bottom of the boat to help steer it in the right direction, and a steward, the manager of a household. As a minister, he is active in his Christianity, constantly struggling against the waves of the outside world, to help steer the ship and all within it, safely to the shore of God’s promised land as he is directed by the Lord. As a steward, Paul is called by God to be faithful in dispensing His word to members of His family. More importantly, as a steward, it is not Paul’s responsibility to keep everyone happy, just the Master.

Just as Paul was judged by many, as Christians, we are judged from the day we are saved. The eyes of the world are upon us, and it is our responsibility to show them the difference God can make in our lives through our everyday actions. It’s important that we remember that no matter who judges us, or how they judge us, that we don’t let the judgement of the outside world direct our path during our walk with Christ. We must keep our eyes on the Lord, as we will all stand judged before Him someday.
