The Church At Ephesus

This sermon in the series ‘Revelations,’ focuses on the church at Ephesus. Jesus begins by praising the church for all the good things they have done by being a steadfast and seperated church. However, He also begins to explain where the church has gone wrong by forsaking their first love.

The church at Ephesus was a very active church, but in their haste to work, they had forgotten the way they had felt about God when they had first began. Jesus explained that in order for their candlestick to remain among the others, they would need to remember how things felt, repent of their wrong doings, and repeat those first works. Jesus wanted to make it clear that the church that loses its love for Christ, loses its light. As Christians today, we should remember this lesson and heed this warning. We should never take forgranted our first love for Christ and we should always do all we can to show that love to others.
