First Time Visitor FAQ’s

How Do I Find the Church?

Northside Baptist Church is conveniently located in the center of Knoxville. The church address is 201 Bernard Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37917. We are just off interstate I-275 on the Baxter Avenue exit. Once you get off the Baxter Avenue exit go down the hill, cross the railroad tracks, and hang a right on Lee Street. At the end of Lee Street turn left on Bernard and the church will be immediately on your left.

Parking

The church has three lots for parking. The main parking lot is attached to the church with a small lot to the left of the church, and a parking lot directly behind the church. We try to save parking on the main lot for visitors so parking should be no problem.

Service Times

Our Sunday service schedule is as follows: Sunday School begins at 9:30 am followed by a morning worship service at 10:45 am. We also have a midweek service on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm.

What Should I Wear?

If you are visiting with us we invite you to “come as you are”. Typically our ministry staff will dress in traditional “Sunday attire”, but our members wear everything from blue jeans to suits and ties. Our main goal if for you to come however you feel the most comfortable.

What Should I Bring With Me?

If you plan on attending one of our services we encourage you to bring a Bible with you if have one. If you don’t have one to bring, or just forget, we provide Bibles in each pew that you are welcome to use while you are there. Some of our members enjoy bringing pen and paper so they can write down the pastor’s outline or notes to help them remember what was said, but that is certainly not required.

Am I Expected To Give?

If you are a visitor, then no, we do not expect you to give in the offering unless you just feel led to do so. We do encourage our members to pray and seek the Lord’s direction in the area of giving, but this is not something we ask of our visitors.

What Should I Expect When I Arrive?

When you arrive at Northside expect to be greeted by our warm, friendly church family. Our church loves to see new faces and will make you feel right at home. Many first time visitors have commented about how friendly Northside is. Someone may ask you to fill out a first time visitor’s card and put it in the offering plate. The card is for the pastor so that he can send you a letter thanking you for visiting with us.

We typically begin service with joyful choir singing, a time of prayer, followed by special singing. At some point the pastor will deliver a bible based message that is sure to stir your heart and challenge your life. The service will then be concluded with an invitation to come to the altar and pray.

Will I Get To Meet The Pastor?

Pastor Byron loves to meet new people and welcome visitors. He tries to shake hands with everyone at the conclusion of the service and is available to answer any questions you have about the service and the church.

Do You Have A Nursery?

Yes! Our church does offer nursery services to help with your little ones.
